Matter of Perspective...

~
Now, I'm not exactly Kenny Rogers' biggest fan, but I have always loved this song and the great 'twist' at the end. It's not only a sweet little song about a boy playing some baseball, but about life and how you look at it. And today, playing with Emery, I was reminded of it so thought I'd share...
~

"The Greatest"

Little Boy, in a baseball hat
Stands in the field with his ball and bat
*
Says I am the greatest player of them all
Puts his bat on his shoulder and he tosses up his ball
*
And the ball goes up and the ball comes down
Swings his bat all the way around
The world's so still you can hear the sound
The baseball falls to the ground
*
Now the little boy doesn't say a word
Picks up his ball, he is undeterred
*
Says I am the greatest there has ever been
And he grits his teeth and he tries it again
*
And the ball goes up and the ball comes down
Swings his bat all the way around
The world's so still you can hear the sound
The baseball falls to the ground
*
He makes no excuses,
He shows no fears
He just closes his eyes and listens to the cheers
*
Little boy, he adjusts his hat
Picks up his ball, stares at his bat
*
Says I am the greatest; the game is on the line
And he gives his all one last time
*
And the ball goes up like the moon so bright
Swings his bat with all his might
And the world's so still as still can be
And the baseball falls, and that's strike three
*
Now it's supper time and his mama calls
Little boy starts home with his bat and ball
*
Says I am the greatest; that is a fact
But even I didn't know I could pitch like that !

Is he not just the cutest?
~
But, don't be fooled by the cute little face...
He's a natural born athlete, that one!
~
Look for him on the pro circuit in about 15-20 years!!
~
There's no tellin' what kind of damage he could do if his aunt could actually pitch the ball !!

You can take the kid out of Georgia,
but you can't take Georgia out of the kid...
~
Jodi and Jeremy have been in Disney World this weekend with the kiddos and sounds like they're having a great time. She finally posted about it yesterday and I just had to share this part, if you hadn't already visited her blog:
~
...We found out later the nap idea wasn’t such a good one. Our dinner reservations ended up being at 9:00 last night. Savannah fell asleep on the way there and Emery was so hungry by the time we got to the restaurant that he stopped, turned to the bus driver and said, “Esscuse me, Shir. Could you take us to ‘da Waffle House?”
~
Now, is that not just the cutest thing EVER? That kid cracks me up. Wish I were there w/ them... but, can't wait to hear more about it when they get back!

Say What?!?

I started recording Emery out at the pool one day because of the intense way he was enjoying his popsicle - but then he started this little "Majesty" bit. He had never done that before and we had no idea what he was saying until the end! But, then again, you just never know what that kid is going to come out with.

I asked him where he got it and pried "Emery, who says that?" (thinking it must be in some movie or something...)

He said "ME!"

Guess I should've seen that one coming.

"And they'll have
FUN, FUN, FUN ~

'til their Nanny takes their 'Donut' away..."

Mom and Dad had the kids this weekend, so I came over yesterday and we spent a large part of the day out in the pool. Suffice it to say, THEY LOVE THEIR POOL-TIME. But, we had a good time. Savannah's still so proud that she can walk all the way across 'the blue' and back and Emery is ecstatic that he can stand 'in the blue' and just wants to be in there all-the-time. He wasn't too sure about their little innertube, but when he got in the larger one with me and I spun him around like the teacup ride, he didn't want to stop! (I better rest up for next week when they'll be here the whole week!!) I'm as tuckered as they are!!

'Nuf Said

Father, we thank You...

Not only for our food, but for sending your Son to earth 2,000 years ago, to express Your boundless love for us.

.... Arrrmen... Arrrmen! :)

*(Thank you, Emery for your lovely blessing and for being so good at reminding us should we ever forget!)
