CELEBRATE FREEDOM 2007
Well, this weekend, we had the first annual (hopefully of many) Celebrate Freedom concert. It was totally free (right in my price range these days!) and all-day!
They were greatly blessed with the weather, as it had cooled off and held off from raining. And I was blessed that it was just held 20 minutes from home!
They had an awesome line-up of artists performing throughout the day, from about 8:30 am up to midnight.
I had changed my mind about taking the whole day off to attend, but did get to leave work early and my friend Michelle headed over there with me to check out: Avalon, Natalie Grant, Michael English, Mark Schultz and Steven Curtis Chapman.
We had quite a bit of a hike to get there, having to park down in the "Steeple Chase" (aka-horse pastures), but it well worth the walk.
Natalie Grant said that was the very first concert that her twin baby girls have attended, which was sweet. And Steven Curtis Chapman had two of his sons in his band with him. The drummer, and then his 17 year-old is the guitarist in the background of this picture I got.
And about 30 minutes after we got there and found a spot to sit, we thought we better go get some food before we got too settled in there.
So, we headed up to the tent area, just trying to see what all they had and where.
Walking through the first tent, all we saw were t-shirts and cd's... and then I looked over and there was my favorite, Mark Schultz! I think just finishing up an interview of sorts. Then he just headed over to a golf-cart and was hanging out, waiting to go to the next spot. I didn't want to "bug him" with the usual 'fan fare' or anything, but did get a snapshot of him!
All in all, a good evening! Thank you for going with me, 'Chelle!
