Makin' a Splash

The long awaited rains
Have fallen hard upon the thirsty ground
Have carved their way to where
The wild and rushing river can be found
And like the rains
I have been carried here to where the river flows
My heart is racing and my knees are weak
As I walk to the edgeI know there is no turning back
Once my feet have left the ledge
And in the rush I hear a voice
That's telling me it's time to take a leap of faith

So here I go!
I'm diving in
I'm going deep
In over my head
I want to be
Caught in the rush
Lost in the flow
In over my head
I want to go
The river’s deep
The river’s wide
The river’s water is alive
So sink or swim
I'm diving in

There is a supernatural power
In this mighty river’s flow
It can bring the dead to life
And it can fill an empty soul
And give a heart the only thing
Worth living and worth dying for
But we will never know the awesome power
Of the grace of God
Until we let ourselves get swept away
Into this holy flood
So if you'll take my hand
We'll close our eyes and count to three
And take the leap of faith

Come on let's go!
I'm diving in
I'm going deep
In over my head
I want to be
Caught in the rush
Lost in the flow
In over my head
I want to go
The river’s deep
The river’s wide
The river’s water is alive
So sink or swim I'm diving in

~This song actually always reminds me of Jodi's ringtone on her phone :) but, now it signifies my sentiments on September 10th.

A week ago Sunday, I re-committed myself to God and made a new committment to Eastridge Community Church by being baptized. Having been raised Lutheran, it's still a somewhat new concept to me: getting 'dunked' as an adult, as opposed to 'sprinkled' as an infant. But, finding a new home at ECC and having a new-found faith in Christ, it was the next step for me. One I was honored to share with my family and friends.

It was a beautiful Indian Summer day... still warm, but with a promise of Fall around the bend. Good food. Good company. Good fun. Even Savannah got caught up in the excitement and bounced with the other kids in the inflatables!! (I guess that made up for Jodi coming down with the flu and Emery crying the entire ceremony 'till he cried his poor little self to sleep.)

Obviously, Savannah was neither sick nor tired. :) But, I'm glad she had a good time, after being so concerned about my 'baptize'.
I was kind of disappointed because I had hoped they would use the lake as our baptismal, but they didn't. But, it was still a beautiful place in a great setting. An old local plantation called 'Gaither's Plantation'.

And you know, I just have to laugh. After my Big Day, I got to thinking about my little buddy, 'Niles' (the mysterious crane from down the road) - probably prompted by Debbie's saying she couldn't find me at first, but then realized it was MY skinny white legs out there, glowing in the sunlight! - But, Niles and I just seem to be on the same track, once again. Just recently, I noticed he had broken out of his hum-drum life in the lonely, dank and marshy retention pond, to the more promising, highly cared-for waters on the par-3 golf course. Now he spends his days in cleaner water, fuller sunlight, frollicking around with his new ducky pals. I guess it was time for both of us to move on, reach out, make some new friends and plunge into some new waters. :) I hope it serves him as well as it has for me.

Great post! I love the pictures. I might even steal one for my blog. :) As for you and Niles, you know how the saying goes, "Birds of a feather..."!
